the 'ornamentals' box

The theme for this month's ornamentals Plant[flix] Projects box is Conifer Bonsai! The seed selection includes:

- Taxodium Distichum aka 'Bald Cypress' seeds (10 pack)
- Abies Nordmannia aka 'Nordmann Fir' seeds (10 pack)
- Pinus Thunbergii aka 'Japanese Black Pine' seeds (20 pack)

Bonsai seeds are pretty tricky to grow, as you may see on the care guide they're listed as advanced. While the care guide does have instructions to follow, if you want to read more details about each particular seed, you can click on the buttons below to read up on tips for each variety.

Once you're on the product page, scroll to the "instructions" tab and click it open to read planting instructions for each seed. These do take several weeks, and in many cases, months, to germinate, so give them time!

Japanese Black Pine are usually the first to germinate, followed by the Bald Cypress seeds, and then the Nordmann Fir. Enjoy the project and good luck!

The theme for this month's box is Root Veggies! The seed selection includes:

- Organic Cherry Belle Radish seeds (100 pack)
- Organic Little Fingers Carrot seeds 
- Organic Detroit Red Beet Seeds

This is what you'll get in your 1 seed-tier box:

- 1 biodegradable planter
- 1 small coconut fiber soil pod
- 1 care guide
- 1 tin of seeds

This is what you'll get in your 2-3 seed tier box:

- 3 biodegradable planters
- 1 medium coconut fiber soil pod
- 1 care guide
- 3 tins of seeds

Root veggies are generally very cold-hardy, making them the perfect seeds to grow in fall/winter or very early spring before the sun gets too strong. All of these seeds are not only organic, but also non-gmo and heirloom seeds so you can grow the best quality plants in your home garden. All can be grown in containers, and even grown indoors provided they recieve enough light(I've actually grown these radishes in 3" planters under grow lights)! 

We chose biodegradable planters because these particular plants don't like to have their roots disturbed, so it's recommended to plant them in the biodegradable planter, then plant the planter whole in a new container(preferably one that is 6" or taller!) There are a lot of seeds, however, and they won't all fit in one planter, so feel free to direct sow these in other containers as well!
