Welcome to another blog! Our business is very young, but we've been able to grow thanks to the support of all of you fellow hobbyists.

I love seeing the posts of seedlings and indoor gardens that we get tagged in, so we thought it would be fun to showcase some of the gardens as well as tips from successful gardeners in this new series of blogs.

This first one is from Teri, who has an awesome gardening Instagram account, so please go visit her Instagram and leave a comment on this post :)

Hi! My name is Teri (@plant_kiss)

I am a mother to 6 wonderful children, (that are all grown) and I have 4 grandchildren.

I’ve attached a picture of myself with my 2 year old granddaughter Ella.

I live in Tennessee outside of Nashville. I’ve been here for 5 years, but I am originally from East Tennessee. When I am not with my plants I am crocheting (@crochetkiss).

Favorite Plant?

I’ve been asked before what my favorite plant is and I have a very hard time choosing. I do love my string of turtles though.

Plant Background?

I have really been into plants for as long as I can remember. I love outdoor and indoor. I haven’t grown any from seed until this past year when I discovered @plantflix. It’s so much more rewarding to watch my plants grow from their early beginnings.

What's your favorite seed starting setup?

I don’t have any seeds currently, but in the spring I will use the setup I used last year. I have a regular covered heating pad that I keep on low and a grow light attached to a small table. I chose this setup because it was very inexpensive and used things I had. I didn’t have to purchase anything extra other than the grow light.

I have been most successful with the greenhouse method. I plant the seed and place a ziplock bag over the container. This almost always works.

Any seed starting struggles?

I can only think of one kind of seed that I had to try a couple of times before they germinated. This was the philodendron hope. The other seedlings I wasn’t very successful with was the polka dot plants. I could not keep them alive. They didn’t grow very big. Then they would die.

Favorite houseplants to grow from seed?

The monstera deliciosa is my favorite to watch grow. I didn’t expect to have fenestrations for a while  and was so excited when I did.

Any seed starting tips?

The most important thing to do to care for seedlings is to separate them when they are big enough, so they can have space to grow. I am very lucky to have a room with a very large south facing window. All plants like this.
